The drains should be installed flush with the road, i.e. in line with the road’s surface.
The slit on the drain’s surface allows for simple tools, which can be assembled on site or bought, to be inserted for the removal of any debris.
While the drains are made with high-strength concrete and steel bars, their load-bearing capacity will vary according to their size. Smaller sizes are ideal for low-traffic zones like walkways while heavy-traffic areas like highways will require larger dimensions.
Egg-shaped precast concrete drains are recommended for areas where sediment-control is a priority. Typically, these are places where sand and debris accumulate quickly, such as parking lots, highways and urban streets.
